Home Front:
The Royal Albert Orphanage – Christmas was celebrated at the Orphanage, although on a modified scale and the children enjoyed themselves immensely. The Master and Matron were enabled by the generosity of the many friends of the Institution to have a well laden Christmas tree, which as in former years, had been sent by Messrs J White & Co. Broad Street. The whole day was given over to festivities.
Christmastide In Worcester – What information is available locally is that, generally, a person paid some regard to the official request that they should not travel any more than was necessary during Christmastime. Probably many, especially those whose who has long journeys in prospect, were deterred from travelling by the reduction in the number of trains, making travelling an uncertain and tedious business.
