The woman had 22 previous convictions dating back to 1890. Her particular “line” of business seemed to be clothes. The court would take into consideration a charge of stealing from a church at Powick and sentenced her to three years’ penal servitude. The bicycle was ordered to be returned to the owner.

Fatal Accident to a Motorist – An inquest at Evesham was held upon Mr John Laigler (69) who was killed whilst driving a motor-cycle with side car on Green’s Hill, Evesham on Tuesday. He drove into a loaded dray in the charge of William Baldwin, market gardener of Church Lench, which was proceeding at a walking pace. Witnesses said that Laigler came close to the dray from behind and did not give himself sufficient room before turning to pass it. The side car struck the hub of the dray and he was thrown into the road, with the motor-cycle on top of him.
