DEATH OF MR J.S.DARLINGTON - OPEN VERDICT AT INQUEST
Dr W.E. Moore Ede said that Mr Darlington was dead when he attended. Part of the lower and upper jaws were blown away, and death must have been instantaneous. If Mr Darlington was a left handed man, the gun might, with the opening of the kitchen door, have been accidentally discharged.
Addressing the Jury, the coroner said it was quite within the bounds of possibility that, if Mr Darlington had the gun in his left hand, by some means it might have gone off accidentally, If that was the case there would be no suggestion of suicide. The evidence was not very clear either way.
The jury returned a verdict of “Found dead”
