Quiet Revolution

25th May 2015 at Pershore Abbey

See today's events

"The First World War brought about a quiet social revolution on the Home Front. Women were fighting the Great War on their own doorstep. Enduring loss, adversity and hardship, they discovered a new sense of purpose and dignity in comradeship, delicate-activism, unity and liberation.

Performed by Dancefest's adult performance company, DFA, alongside community dance groups, Quiet Revolution was originally created for Kidderminster Arts Festival in August 2014, by dancers from Rock Creative Chance to Dance, Dancefest Creatives and choreographer Marie Oldaker, with the aim of performing the piece across the region, each time working with new performers from the local community.

You can take part in the performance at Pershore. Classes will be led by Marie Oldaker at Number 8 Community Arts Centre, 8 High Street, Pershore, WR10 1BG. She'll work with the group to choreograph a dance inspired by the role of women in WWI. Sessions will run on Fridays during April and May culminating in a rehearsal with Dancefest Adults group and an outdoor performance as part of Pershore Carnival. Places are limited so if you would like to take part in this exciting project book now via Number 8's Box Office.

The performance will happen twice at Pershore Abbey doors. Once at 2.30pm and the second will be at 4pm."
