Worcester and Gouzeaucourt - A story of two towns exhibition opens at the Guildhall

22nd July 2017

Worcester and Gouzeaucourt - A story of two towns is an exhibition compiled by Worcester Twinning Association as part of its Heritage Lottery Project.

As part of a national League of Help, Worcester adopted Gouzeaucourt in 1921 to help rebuild the shattered village which had been behind German lines for much of the War but in 1917 and 1918 was on the front Line.

Battalions of the Worcestershire Regiment, notably 2/8th Battalion, were in the vicinity and the adoption was based on this connection with the Regiment and the dead in local cemeteries.

This free exhibition runs from 22 - 29 July at the Guildhall in Worcester. The exhibition is open Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm and Saturday, 10am - 5pm.
