The formidable women of Worcestershire

16th January 2017

This talk and exhibition, on Wednesday 18 January, by University of Worcester lecturer Professor Maggie Andrews, explores the legacy of World War One for Worcestershire women such as Lady Isabel Margesson, Mrs Edith Hooper, the Hon. Mary Pakington and Mrs Annie Rusher.

Formidable women who variously became Justice of the Peace, ran women's organisations, wrote plays or campaigned to improve maternal and child welfare in the inter-war years.

World War One enabled a number of Worcestershire women to develop their skills and spheres of influence through voluntary work and prepared them to use their newly acquired vote in 1918.

The event runs from 6pm - 7pm, light refreshments are avallable at the start of the event.

Titled Volunteers and Voters: World War 1 the event is free of charge and booking is recommended, please click here.
