"The Battles at Oghratina and Qatia took place on Easter Sunday, 23rd April 1916. A contemporary newspaper article published shortly after the action at Qatia describes it thus;

'The determined stand of the Worcestershire Yeomanry at Qatia, ranks as one of the most stirring of the minor episodes of the war. Attacked by an overwhelming Turkish force, while holding a desert oasis, the Yeomen fought, as they fell back, a desperate rear-guard action with magnificent valour worthy of the higher traditions of the British Army.'

In the two actions over the ill fated Easter weekend, the Regiment lost 9 Officers, 87 NCOs and Men and 15 wounded so badly they subsequently died. It may justifiably be claimed that they sacrificed themselves to prevent the enemy causing serious damage to the Railway and Suez Canal, which were the main objective."
