17th November 1917 - Provisional Committee meeting to elect officers

War Front:

1st Batt: Batt marched at 4.30am to Caestre and entrained for Ypres. From there men marched to D Camp just to north of St Jean Camp. Weather good.

4th Batt: Batt marched to Boisleau-au-Mont and entrained at Adinfer after a hot meal and proceeded to Peronne. Batt marched to Moislains.

2/7th Batt: There was a Brigade musketry meeting. Batt provided working parties.

Yeomanry/Cavalry: Reg set off for Tineh Station, now clear of Turks, where the old ammunition boxes provided firewood.

Home Front:

There was a large attendance at the meeting in the Co-operative Hall on Friday evening. The business was primarily, to receive the recommendations of the Provisional Committee and to elect officers. The objects of the Association are defined as being: (a) to secure the provision of land for more allotments; (b) to provide increased security of tenure to allotment holders; (c) mutual protection and help; (d) to provide members with seeds, etc., at best advantage and to assist them to dispose of surplus crops. It was decided to affiliate with the National Union of Allotment Holders and votes of thanks were accorded to the Co-operative Society for the free use of the hall and rooms for the initial meetings of the Association and to Mr. S.J. Hood for his work as provisional Hon. Secretary. Enthusiasm was shown by those present. Over 90 members have already joined.
