1st June 1917 - Military Medal for Bidford Man

War Front

1st Batt: Batt in good billets at Corbie. At 11.50pm men entrained at Corbie.

2nd Batt: Batt moved to good billets in Pommiers. The men marched well.

3rd Batt: Batt in bivouacs in the field near Neuve Eglise, preparing for the coming offensives. B Coy rehearsed a prospective raid.

4th Batt: Batt in front Line under considerable enemy bombardment during the day. At night B Coy was relieved by the Corporate Batt NIY and the 6th Corps of Cyclists and marched back to Arras to rest.

2/7th Batt relieved by 2/1st Bucks in support at Tilloy.

2/8th Batt: Batt moved Brigade Support at Bois de Bouefs and took over from the 2/4th Berks. 1 other rank was wounded and was taken to Casualty Clearing Station.

10th Batt: Adjutant`s Parade at 7.40am. Coys in the attack on batt training ground from 9 to 12.30pm with musketry from 2 to 4pm. Batt congratulated by the Corps Commander on the recent raid on 25th and 26th May.

11th Batt: Batt near the River Vandar, a quiet sector in Macedonia. The enemy outposts were along the railway line and Yakinjali.

Yeomanry/Cavalry: After a stores halt at Esani, the Reg moved forward in thick fog towards Imalga and established a line of observation posts.

Home Front

"PETROL AND HIRED CARS – Proceedings taken by Worcester Police - At the City Police Court today 19 people were summoned for driving a motor car let for hire in which motor spirit was used in contravention of the recent Order under the Defence of the Realm Act. The Chief Constable said the Order forbidding the use of petrol in cars plying for hire came into force on May 12th.

Military Medal for Bidford Man – This honour has been conferred on Lce. Cpl. Jesse Moore of the Dorsetshire Regiment, for covering his Company with machine gun fire during an attack. The objective was taken.
