At the Front:

1st Batt: There was a great deal of hostile shelling near the billets and a number of shell splinters flying about. One man was wounded.

2nd Batt: Divine Service held in Chapel Rue D`Aire at 10.30 am

3rd Batt: The 10th Cheshires lost their trenches and the 8th Loyal North Lancs attacked without success. The Batt was moved up in support.

On the Home Front:

Victoria Institute Presentation: A very pleasant and successful season in the dressmaking classes which are held on Thursday evenings at the Victoria Institute, was terminated on Thursday. Just before the close Miss Footman, on behalf of the students, presented Miss Marjorie Millington with a dress case as a token of the class’s gratitude for the very able way in which they had been instructed.

Library Committee: It was reported that there had been 2,615 visitors to the Art Gallery in 25 days. The Chairman stated that the collection of pictures given to the city from the Sale bequest would be opened on Monday next. Thirty-three of these pictures had never been framed, and the Committee thought it advisable to get them done. They had obtained an estimate of £17 10s., and they proposed to defray the cost from the Wheeley Lea bequest.

National Egg Collection: The eggs collected at the Guildhall in the week ending Saturday last, totalled 923, against 1,081 in the previous week.
