26th February 1916 - Rev. Studdart-Kennedy tells of the importance of letters from Home

At the Front:

1st Batt: Batt attended Church Parade.

10th Batt: Four generals visited Batt HQ. Commanding Officer went round front line during the night, 2nd in Command went round at early morning Stand To and Adjutant went round during the morning.

On the Home Front:

Rev. G A Studdart-Kennedy tells of the importance of letters from Home. In his letter Rev Studdart-Kennedy, Vicar of St Paul's, who is now serving at the Front, apologised for the delay in sending his third despatch, having been in hospital for a fortnight. In his letter he stresses the importance of letters from home 'often a boy's home letters are the one thing that stands between him and the devil' 'A letter from home which does not arrive to time may spell disaster' to those waiting

Increased dilution of spirits

An order by the Central Control Board permitting the dilution of spirits up to 50deg under proof in all the scheduled areas is published in the 'London Gazette'
