4th February 1916 - Pershore boy dies in flood

At the Front:

1st Batt; Batt to trenches to relieve 2nd East Lancs, a quiet relief. The 2nd Northants are on the right and a Batt of 21st Division are on the left.

10th Batt: Batt signallers were inspected by the GCC of 37 Brigade.

SMD RFA: Major Lattery returned from a course at Beauval.

On the Home Front:

Prominent Malvern Resident. The death occurred, early this morning, of Admiral John Frederick George Grant. He was taken on Thursday evening, and his demise comes as a great shock to his many friends. Grant was a typical Sailor, with a breezy manner. He attained rank of captain in 1875, Rear Admiral in 1890 and Admiral 1902.

Pershore Boy’s Death -Drowned in the flood

Reuben Annis, aged 12, whose body was found in the river on Thursday. Mrs Jane Annis, the mother of deceased and wife of James Annis, said she last saw the boy on Monday, January 3rd. He went off with his brother, Harry, taking an air gun with him. Witness went to the station to see a daughter off by train, and while she was on the platform, two boys, Welsh and Conn, told her Reuben was drowned.
