1st Batt: Batt cleaning up billets-it snowed all day.

2nd Batt: Billets in Annequin for three days

SMD RFA: Brigade bombarded enemy front and second line trenches. The 1st Warwickshire Battery assisted. German reply feeble.

On the Home Front:

City Council Asked For Compulsory Order

A meeting called by Worcester Grocers Association, was held at the Guildhall to discuss the question of early closing in view of the lighting order. It was decided by a large majority that shops should close on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 6pm, at 8 o'clock on Friday and 9 o'clock on Saturday; and further to petition the City Council for a compulsory order to that effect.

Ludlow Gardener's Suicide

George Edward Tomkins (37), a jobbing gardener, of 41, Steventon New road, Ludlow, whose body was found in the Teme, and who has been missing from his home since January 18th.

Alfred John Tomkins said he had heard nothing of his brother since last October, when he complained of pains in his head. He had been in hospital and was discharged as incurable. He was able to work, but had no regular employment. He had a fall from his bicycle some time ago and injured his head. He was in low spirits.
