On the Home Front:

Mrs. Baynton, Albert Road, Kidderminster, who has seven sons serving in the King’s forces – five in the Army and two in the Navy, received a letter from the Keeper of the Privy Purse conveying an expression of the King’s appreciation.

Mrs. Frank Morgan, who resides in St. John’s, has received news from her husband and the Admiralty of her husband’s promotion to First Class Petty Officer. Mr. Morgan, who is a Hereford man, has resided in Worcester since 1910, when he married Miss Beatrice French, youngest daughter of Mr. Joseph French and grand-daughter of the late Mr. John French, of this city. Mr. Morgan is only 27 years of age, and about one of the youngest First Class Petty Officers in the Navy. He has been through two successful actions since the commissioning of his duty in October, 1914.

Mrs. May, The Gardens, Hindlip, has received news that her son, Corpl. Percy May has been invalided out of the Army, he has practically lost the use of his right arm. Corpl. May joined the King Edward’s Horse in 1914 and has been in seven engagements. He was wounded at Festubert on July 9, 1915, he had been shot through the right shoulder. When Mrs. May visited her son he told her that he had had the time of his life whilst in France, and regretted that he could not return.

The list of soldiers awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal includes the name of Sergeant John Tromans, Old Hill, who belongs to the 1st Worcestershire Regiment. Tromans has served in the Army for 17 years.

On Saturday, 506 eggs were collected at the Guildhall, and sent to London for France, Battenhall Hospital, and the Infirmary.
