Ends of toilet soap should never be thrown away, but should be melted down into a pulp with boiling water. When this is of the consistency of soft soap it may be poured into teacups to harden, and fresh cakes made in this way of what would otherwise have been wasted. These cakes can be utilised for washing laces or small dress accessories of lawn or muslin which are laundered at home. The cakes should be left until the soap is not only hard but thoroughly dry, as it will then be much more satisfactory, and last longer.

Dry Cleaning at Home: Dry cleaning may be done at home. Here is the preparation which should be used: Mix equal amounts of borax, white flour, and salt. Sprinkle this on to the soiled article, whether it is made of serge, voile, white satin, or lace. Put the garment away for about four days in a drawer, then take out and brush with a soft brush.
