On the Home Front:

Railway Fatality : A well-known retired railway official, Mr. James Sefton, of Wyld’s Lane, was killed on the railway lines at Norton crossing on Wednesday evening. He is supposed to have been run into by the express from London, which gets into Shrub Hill at 4 o’clock. A guard of the 4.24 goods train from Worcester to Gloucester saw the body at the side of the line and reported the matter to the railway officials at Norton Junction. Mr. Sefton was 60 years of age and had retired in January of last year. His eyesight was not good, and it is said he was accustomed to take a walk over the fields at Whittington and to cross the line. It is thought that in doing so, on Wednesday, he was caught by the express. An inquest will be held at Upper Battenhall Farm tomorrow.
