WORCESTER ARTILLERY: CHRISTMAS DINNER

Sir- May I take the liberty, through your columns, of inviting the inhabitants of Worcestershire to subscribe to a fund for providing the men under my command with a Christmas dinner. Last year the Worcestershire people were kind enough to make the necessary contributions for the purpose of entertaining the N.C.O's and men of the 1st brigade (now in France). And I know how greatly this was appreciated by them.

WORCESTER MUNITIONS COURT

Workman declares he will not work

Arthur Henry Davis, Worcester, alleged that his employers, Messrs. Hernan and Froude, unreasonably withheld a certificate under section 7 of the Munitions Act. His chief ground of complaint was that he was not getting the wages laid down by the district trade union committee, but according to his employers, he was getting the rate laid down by the committee. The court refused him a certificate. Applicant said he should refuse to work and the firm could summon him.
