On the front: 2nd Worcestershire's move westwards to new billets in Gonnehem. 1st Worcestershire lent to the newly-arrived 29th Division to lend experience, took over trenches between Fauquissart and Chapigny: heavily shelled but no losses.

On the Home Front:

New Theatre Royal, Worcester. Thursday afternoon next, October 28th, 1915, at 2.30pm. Territorial Voluntary Aid Detachment - Worcester 3. Monday Oct 25th - Parade at Drill Hall at 8pm for drill instruction under Commandant. Thursday, Oct 28th - Parade at Shirehall at 8pm prompt for instruction by Medical Officer. It is essential that all members not on duty at the hospital attend these parades. Usual parades at Battenhall Hospital on Thursdays and Saturdays. All available men required. B J Hilliar Commandant.

International news

Miss Cavell's last hours. "Died like a heroine". A touching account of a final interview with Miss Cavell, the patriotic English nurse who was executed at Brussels for having assisted fugitives of the allies to escape, has been made by the Rev HST Gahan, British Chaplain to Brussels. Mr Gahan states that on the evening of Monday October 11, he was admitted by special passport from the German authorities to the prison of St Gilles where Miss Cavell had been held for 10 weeks. He found his friend perfectly calm and resigned. She thanked God for the ten weeks of quiet before the end of her life: '...Life has always been so hurried and full of difficulty'. She said that they had all been very kind to her and she said "...I would say, standing as I do in view of God and eternity: I realise that patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness towards anyone". Mr Gahan bade her farewell and she smiled and said "We shall meet again".
