Mr John Kent's irresistible appeal for fruit for our soldiers is producing large quantities of very acceptable delicacies. His earnestness demands attention and his spirit of self-sacrifice sets an example to those who have the means to help his cause. One farmer lately promised him 20 tons of fruit and one farmer in Kidderminster was impelled to offer 100 tons of fruit, others who have fruit to spare are exhorted to send it to Mr Kent for out brave sons at the front.

Mr John Campbell Weir of Sion Hill, Kidderminster, whose death took place on June 28, left estate of £8.589. Testator directed that his body should be cremated five days after his death and unless he should die of some disease necessitating it, he directed that his body should not be encased in a coffin during that time, and if so that his trustees should personally ascertain whether life was extinct, 'my chief dread being lest by accident I may be cremated or otherwise disposed while I am still alive.
