2nd September 1915 - Southport policeman thanked for service in Worcestershire Regiment

Shortly after the outbreak of the war P.C Richard Hesketh of the Southport Police Force joined the 6th Worcestershire Regt and in due course became orderly to one of the officers. During the recent fighting the officer to whom Lance Corporal Hesketh was orderly, lost his life. The Southport soldier wrote to the relatives of the officer giving information as to the sad occurence. As a thank you and in recognition of his services to her son, the mother of the officer sent Lance Corporal Hesketh the sum of £50.
