1st September 1915 - 10th Battalion into Front Line for first time

1/8th Batt at Bayencourt fortifying the town. 10th Batt in trenches Quinque Rue to Pipe Communication trench until 7th. Five casualties on day one. German cap grey with red band and piping + rifle and hand grenade were captured. Might belong to 13th Reserve Regiment 8th Company

FOOTBALL NEAR THE FRONT - An interesting match took place between the Worcester R.F.A. and the Warwicks, which resulted in an easy victory for the Worcesters by 5 to 2. The Worcester team proved to be a fine set of men and deserved their victory. MR JOHN KENT'S APPEAL FOR RECRUITS - Seizing the opportunity to commandeer a dray standing at Worcester Cross on Saturday afternoon, Mr John Kent made a recruiting appeal. He said that if we failed to beat the Germans, every living man, woman and child in this country would be better off dead.
