10th August 1914 - 8th Battalion (Territorials) leave Worcester
Rev. Arthur Walters, former Wesleyan Minister in Worcester, now Chaplain to Territorials in Cardiff, had been invited by the War Office to go to the Front as an Army Chaplain.
Enthusiastic scenes at Shrub Hill as the 8th Batt. Worcs. Regt. Left Worcester for its assigned destination. Lowesmoor shops decked with flags, the route was lined with dense crowds, many wearing red, white and blue.
