Pershore in the Great War (Pershore 100)
1st August 2018 - 30th November 2018 in Pershore
An exhibition using images, artefacts, words and memories to tell stories about Pershore during the Great War.
It features, amongst others, Boy Scouts, postmen, and the Pershore Troop of the Worcestershire Yeomanry. There are sections on tradespeople and shops; the railway; the VTC; and war souvenirs. Women helped preserve and distribute vegetables and fruit; one woman describes pride in her new job at a local factory.
In the aftermath of the war the disabled were given work by the local basket-maker, and organisations set up to help veterans, such as the Old Comrades and the British Legion, opened branches in the town. It ends with fascinating photographs of the Peace Parade in 1919.
